Hi, Leslie here..."Crazy Girl" began in September, 2003, from the simple idea of creating a space where you could buy the most exquisite yarn fiber available and when you were done, could hang out with a good cup of coffee and knit for a while. The idea has grown steadily and watching it come to fruition has been one of my life's great joys. We currently have two brick and mortar shops (Coralville, and Cedar Falls) and an online shopping cart. I attribute most of our success to the enthusiasm and dedication of a superb staff and the never ending creative ideas of our large customer base. I often get asked why I called it "Crazy Girl" but anyone who has caught the knitting bug understands the name. For a true addict, the fiber and color somehow possesses you and drive you to create. It makes you in a sense, "Crazy".... but what a fun psychosis to have!

On a personal note, I currently reside in Cedar Falls with my husband and six kids. I split my time between the two stores so I have quite a bit of windshield time. If only I could knit on the road! I've been knitting for 20 years now (can that really be true ??) My favorite knitting project is always the next one - which I often start before I finish what's on my needles (a true addict). If you would like to contact me I'd love to hear your comments at crazygirliowa@gmail.com or you can find a Crazy Girl Yarn Shop group on Ravelry and Facebook. But best of all, stop in the shop with your project and a good cup of coffee and spend some face time with me....I'd love to meet you.

Coralville Staff
Amy
Amy, manager of Crazy Girl Coralville, learned the single crochet chain and knit & purl stitch from her Swedish grandmother. But, it wasn’t until she was pregnant with her first child 20 years ago that she got serious and enrolled in a basic knitting class. She hasn’t looked back! Over the years she has made scarves, mittens, hats, baby sweaters, and socks, and has recently took the plunge to adult sweaters and lace shawls! She enjoys making gifts for new babies, and every Christmas knits hats for her 7 nieces and nephews. Amy lives in Iowa City with her partner and daughter, her 20 year old son attends college in Rochester, NY."

Ann
Ann cultivated her love of fiber at the foot of her Grandma Lollie, who whipped out afghans at lighting speed. Ann swears she learned to crochet in the womb, and took up knitting fifteen years ago, driving forty miles--each way--for lessons. She lives in Iowa City with her husband and two daughters, and spends her free time reading, playing online poker and watching the Cubs.

Gabrielle Harvey
Gabrielle learned to crochet from various relatives and friends when she was still in elementary school. She made miles of pink crochet chain before moving on to endless single crochet scarves and massive granny square afghans. After years of being a happy crocheter, she realized she didn’t want to be limited in yarney achievements, and picked up knitting. Gabrielle loves knitting socks, sweaters, mittens, and any other clothing useful for keeping warm during Iowa winters.

Karen
Karen was given a pair of Brittany Birch Victorian needles 13 years ago and she’s been clicking away ever since. She loves to knit on needles passed down from her husband’s mother and grandmother. When she’s not adding new favorites to her Ravelry page, she can be found in the letterpress studio at the University of Iowa’s Center for the Book where she is currently a graduate student. She’s new to Iowa and would love to hear places you think she can’t miss visiting in the state.
